The free AI SEO audit.

The thirty-point checklist we run on every new engagement. Technical foundation, content architecture, answer-engine readiness, and measurement. No email required, no downloads, no follow-up pitch.

How to use it

Print the page. Hand it to the engineer or marketer who can sign off on each item.

Every box you can't check honestly is one your competitors are probably getting right.

Most sites pass 40–60% on a first run. Getting to 90%+ is usually a two- to four-week engagement.

01 · Technical foundation

The unglamorous work that separates sites that rank from sites that don't. Fix this before you touch content.

  • Core Web Vitals pass on mobile (LCP < 2.5s, INP < 200ms, CLS < 0.1) — check in PageSpeed Insights.
  • HTTPS everywhere, no mixed-content warnings, no expired certificates.
  • XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • robots.txt allows crawling of canonical URLs and blocks staging / internal.
  • Canonical tags set on every page; no duplicate-content splits.
  • Mobile-first rendering verified (fold, tap targets, readable without zoom).
  • Structured data present on pages that support it (Article, FAQ, Product, HowTo).
  • Internal linking follows a clean hub-and-spoke pattern; no orphan pages.
02 · Content & entities

You're ranking for topics, not strings. Prove you belong to the category.

  • Category entity map: every major concept your ICP searches has a dedicated pillar page.
  • Each pillar links to 3–10 spoke posts covering sub-topics in depth.
  • Primary entities named explicitly in page titles, H1s, and first 150 words.
  • First-person expertise signals (author bios, case studies, dated updates).
  • Original data or original synthesis in at least every third post.
  • No AI-generated content published without human editing and an expert review pass.
  • Publishing cadence is weekly or better and has been sustained for 90+ days.
03 · AEO & LLM citations

Optimize for the answer engines that ate 30% of your search traffic while you weren't looking.

  • Run 20 ICP queries in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude. Record who gets cited.
  • For each query, identify the cited source. Audit what they did that you didn't.
  • Every page answers at least one specific question in the first two paragraphs.
  • FAQ schema on high-intent pages with answers under 40 words each.
  • Key statistics, definitions, and methodology are quotable passages — easy for an LLM to lift and attribute.
  • Author and organization schema marked up; LLMs lean on this for citation confidence.
  • Tracking in place to re-run citation queries weekly and watch the trend line.
04 · Measurement & attribution

If you can't measure it, you can't compound it.

  • Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools connected. Position and CTR tracked weekly.
  • Organic sessions, sourced-pipeline, and closed-won revenue tied back to landing page and initial keyword.
  • LLM citation tracking running weekly across at least three AI products.
  • Competitor monitoring: top three competitors' new content, backlinks, and citation wins reviewed weekly.
  • Traffic attribution doesn't credit "direct" for obvious referral, social, or LLM-driven sessions.
  • Quarterly review: which entities moved, what converted, what to kill.
